When a vessel begins to leak, whether from rust in a drum, a puncture in an IBC or damage to a tank wall, you need a solution that is quick, effective and designed for imperfect conditions. The PIG Instant Leak Plug line is crafted to give you just that: a simple-to-install rubber/silicone plug that seals in seconds, even on splintered or unclean surfaces.

Because downtime is costly, PIG designed these plugs to work without special tools and to be deployed by a single person in an emergency. The material selection - silicone with a Nylon 6/6 core - is rated for a wide temperature range (-50 Β°C to +50 Β°C) and is compatible with many fuels and chemical liquids. Variants in the series differ primarily in size and weight, making it easier to select the right plug for your container size or leak scenario.

These are temporary fixes, giving you the breathing space to plan a permanent repair while safely containing the problem. According to manufacturer data, they’re expected to last up to ~10 hours under typical conditions (and stored correctly can shelf for about three years). Use them as a smart stop-gap that helps protect your people, environment and operations until full remediation is completed.

Materials: Silicone & Nylon 6/6.

Temperature rating: -50 Β°C (-58 Β°F) to +50 Β°C (122 Β°F)

Shelf life: 3 years when stored properly.

Suitable for rough, damaged or unclean surfaces.

Works on many fuel and chemical spill scenarios.

1. Which model should I choose?

Select based on the size of the hole or puncture you’re dealing with. PTY1101 suits the smallest breaches, PTY1102 covers moderate sized holes, and PTY1103 is intended for the largest leaks or elongated damage.

2. How long will the plug hold before a permanent repair is needed?

These plugs are designed for temporary use only. The manufacturer indicates up to around 10 hours under typical conditions, though actual duration will depend on the fluid, pressure, environment and surface condition.

3. Does the surface need special preparation?

No special tools are required, and part of the appeal is that the plug will work even on rough, splintered or rusted surfaces. However, ensuring as good a fit as possible will improve effectiveness.

4. What happens after I deploy it?

Once installed, the leak is contained and you can continue operations safely or schedule a permanent repair. Be sure to monitor the plug and replace or repair as required since this is not a long-term solution.

5. Are these compatible with all chemical liquids?

They’re compatible with many fuels and chemical liquids, but you should consult the manufacturer’s chemical compatibility guide to ensure suitability for your specific fluid.
