When a pipe starts leaking, you need a solution that is fast, reliable and easy to deploy. The PTY1100 Instant Leak Plug from PIG fits that bill perfectly. It can be applied in seconds without special tools and seals leaks in rigid pipe, lines and PEX tubing from as small as 3.2 mm (1⁄8"") up to 25.4 mm (1"") in diameter. It also works on larger lines up to about 300 mm (12"") when used with the 38 cm (15"") extension tie.
Built from durable silicone and Nylon 6/6, the plug is formulated to tolerate extreme conditions: effective from -50 °C (-58 °F) up to +50 °C (122 °F), and usable even on rough or unclean surfaces such as splintered or rusted pipework.
The product is supplied in packs of two and has a suggested service life of three years when stored appropriately.
Whether you’re dealing with an urgent burst situation on a production line, a maintenance shutdown or simply want a reliable stop-gap before full repair, this plug gives you the flexibility to act fast and limit downtime. The compact size (approx. 2.5 cm external diameter) ensures minimal intrusion, and because it’s temporary, you can remove it and carry out a full repair at your convenience.

1. In what scenarios can I deploy this plug?
This plug is ideal for emergency stops or temporary leak control on pipes that are either rigid or PEX, with diameters in the specified range. Once secured, it gives you breathing room to plan a permanent repair.
2. Does the surface condition of the pipe matter?
Not significantly. The plug is designed to work even on rough, unclean or splintered surfaces, making it versatile in real-world maintenance settings.
3. How long can I keep this plug in place?
It is designed as a temporary solution; its leak-sealing performance could persist for up to 10 hours depending on conditions. For long-term use, a permanent repair is advised.
4. What happens if my pipe is larger than 25.4 mm (1")?
The standard plug covers up to 1" diameter. For larger pipes (up to approximately 12"), you can use the extension tie (15" / 38 cm) to adapt the solution. Ensure compatibility and assess the condition of the pipe before relying on extended use.
5. Is this a one-time use item?
Yes, it is intended as a single-use, emergency or temporary leak control device. After removal, the condition of the plug and the pipe should be reviewed and a permanent repair undertaken.
