The COCUS 28mm Starling Bird Netting is an industrial-strength, high-specification barrier designed to protect buildings, agricultural structures, and commercial properties. Specifically sized to exclude starlings, this netting is the "middle-ground" professional solution - offering maximum protection with improved airflow and reduced visibility compared to tighter meshes.

As this product is custom-cut to your specific dimensions, please double-check your measurements before ordering. Custom-cut items are non-returnable unless faulty.

Why Choose 28mm Knotted Mesh?
While 19mm mesh is required for sparrows, the 28mm square mesh is the optimal choice for starlings. Using the largest mesh possible for your target species is often preferred by architects and installers as it is even more discrete and offers less wind resistance, while remaining completely impassable for starlings and all larger birds (pigeons, gulls, and crows).

Key Technical Features
28mm Starling-Proof Mesh: Precision-sized to exclude starlings and starlings-sized birds. It also provides a 100% effective barrier against pigeons and gulls.

Knotted High-Tenacity Polyethylene: Unlike extruded plastic netting, our knotted twine will not stretch or deform under tension, ensuring the mesh stays square and secure for years.

UV-Stabilised & Rot-Proof: Chemically treated to withstand the harshest UV exposure and British weather. It will not become brittle or lose strength when exposed to sunlight or moisture.

High Strength-to-Weight Ratio: The 12/6 twine construction offers a high break-strength while remaining lightweight enough for large-span installations on warehouses or stadium roofs.

Professional Aesthetics: The ultra-fine black twine is designed to disappear against the sky or dark backgrounds, preserving the visual integrity of your building.

Installation & Measuring Advice
How to Measure
Measure the maximum length and width of the area to be covered.

Important: We strongly recommend adding 10% extra to both dimensions. This "slack" is essential for securing the net to your fixings and ensuring it can be tensioned without leaving gaps at the corners.

Pro-Installer Tip
For the most discrete look, use a 2mm or 3mm stainless steel wire perimeter. Fix the net to the wire using hog rings or cable ties every 100mm-150mm. This keeps the net taut and prevents birds from squeezing through the edges.

1. Will 28mm netting stop sparrows?

No. Small birds like sparrows can often squeeze through 28mm gaps. If you need to exclude sparrows, we recommend our 19mm Sparrow Netting. The 28mm version is specifically for starlings and larger birds.

2. Is this net suitable for use in high-wind coastal areas?

Yes. The 28mm mesh has a very low wind-load factor, allowing air to pass through freely. The high-tenacity polyethylene is also salt-water resistant, making it ideal for marinas, docks, and coastal building protection.

3. Does the net come with finished edges?

As these are custom-cut from master rolls, the edges are "raw" knotted edges. This is standard for professional netting as it allows you to lace the net directly onto a wire or frame for a tighter, cleaner finish.

4. Can I use this for garden fruit cages?

Yes, it is an excellent choice for fruit cages. The 28mm mesh is large enough to allow essential pollinating insects (like bees) to pass through easily, while keeping starlings and pigeons away from your crops.

5. Is this item returnable?

We do not accept returns for custom, made-to-order netting - please check your dimensions carefully before placing your order.

All our products are dispatched from the United Kingdom, with 1000's available for next day delivery (order by 1pm) and many more in 2-4 working days. For custom-made or made-to-order items, delivery times may vary, and any exceptions will be clearly indicated during the checkout process.
