1. Why choose concrete spacers over plastic ones?
Concrete spacers are much stronger and won't compress under heavy loads. Because they are made of a similar material to the pour, they provide a better bond and maintain the fire resistance and water-tightness of the structure more effectively than plastic.
2. How do the dual-height sizes work?
Each spacer has two different dimensions depending on its orientation. For example, the 40/50mm spacer will give you 40mm of cover if laid on one side, and 50mm if flipped 90 degrees. This reduces the number of different products you need to stock on-site.
3. Are these suitable for vertical work, like walls?
Yes. While they are most common in horizontal slabs due to their high load capacity, they can be used in vertical applications. For very high-speed wall pours, ensure they are secured to the rebar to prevent shifting.
4. Will they show on the surface of the finished concrete?
Because they are made from concrete, they blend in far better than plastic. When used correctly, they become an integral part of the structure with minimal to no visible footprint on the surface.
5. Are these spacers fire-rated?
Yes. Since they are made of concrete, they are inherently fire-resistant and do not produce toxic fumes or melt, making them the standard choice for projects with strict fire safety requirements.
