1. Why are there two different sizes of caps?
Rebar and road pins vary significantly in thickness depending on the job. The 8-16mm cap is ideal for standard road pins, fencing stakes, and lighter rebar. The 16-32mm cap is designed for the thicker heavy-duty reinforcement bars used in civil engineering and large concrete foundations.
2. Can these be used specifically on road pins?
Yes. These are specifically marketed as road pin caps. They are the industry-standard safety solution for covering the sharp tops of metal road pins used in site demarcation, road forms, and temporary fencing.
3. Do these caps protect against impalement from falls?
These are visual and scratch-protection caps. They are designed to prevent minor injuries, snags, and to increase visibility. For protection against high-velocity vertical falls (impalement), specialized steel-reinforced "anti-impalement" covers are required by health and safety regulations.
4. Are the caps reusable?
Yes. Because they are made from high-impact, durable plastic, they can be easily removed once a project is finished and moved to a new site, making them a very cost-effective safety investment.
5. How do you secure them to the bar or pin?
The caps feature an internal tapered rib design. You simply push the cap onto the end of the rebar or road pin by hand (or with a light tap from a rubber mallet) to create a secure friction fit that prevents them from falling off.
