For areas where accuracy matters most, the WOLF-Garten WE 430 Drop Spreader delivers superior, controlled application. Engineered by the respected WOLF-Garten brand, this spreader is designed to apply material directly beneath the hopper, ensuring a precise coverage width of approximately 0.5 metres. This drop mechanism is perfect for de-icing narrow paths, cycle lanes, pavements, and corridors where avoiding spillage onto delicate surrounding areas (like grass verges or flowerbeds) is critical.

The spreader features a 20kg / 20 Litre hopper capacity crafted from durable, corrosion-resistant polyethylene. This material, along with the corrosion-resistant stainless steel shaft, ensures exceptional longevity even when handling abrasive de-icing salt.

Key Features for Controlled Application:

Integrated Agitator: Ensures dry, free-flowing materials like refined salt or fertiliser remain loose, preventing clogs and guaranteeing a consistent application rate.

Adjustable Flow Control & Stop Lever: The easy-to-use lever allows you to finely tune the material dosage and instantly halt the spread at boundaries, eliminating waste.

Ergonomic and Stable: The design includes an adjustable height handle for user comfort and a stable pedestal stand, allowing you to easily fill the hopper without the unit tipping over.

This versatile machine can be used year-round for seeds, sand, fertiliser, and processed de-icing salts.

1. What is the difference between a Drop Spreader and a Spinner Spreader?

A Drop Spreader like the WE 430 releases material directly downwards between the wheels, offering a narrow, precise spreading width (approx. 0.5m). This is ideal for accuracy on paths. A Spinner Spreader uses a rotating plate to broadcast material widely (up to 3m+), which is better for large, open areas.

2. Can I use this with standard brown grit salt?

The WE 430 performs best with dry, free-flowing, and processed de-icing salts (like pure white salt, sand, or fine rock salt) which are essential for proper flow through the precision drop mechanism. We recommend avoiding coarse, heavy brown grit salt which can contain large lumps and damp particles, as these may clog the machine.

3. How do I control where the salt stops being applied?

The spreader features a convenient Stop Lever mounted on the handle. When you release this lever, the flow of salt instantly stops. This mechanism allows you to start and stop the application precisely at boundaries, such as before a door or a grassy area, preventing waste and unnecessary salting.

4. Is this spreader suitable for use with fertiliser and seeds in the summer?

Yes. The WOLF-Garten WE 430 is designed for multi-season use. Its adjustable flow control and precise drop pattern are excellent for accurately spreading granular fertiliser, grass seed, or sand in the spring and summer. Always ensure you thoroughly clean and dry the unit after using salt before switching materials.

5. How does the spreader prevent the material from clumping inside?

The spreader incorporates an internal agitator mechanism. This device continuously turns and breaks up the material within the hopper, ensuring that dry, free-flowing salts, seeds, or fertilisers remain loose and feed consistently through the dispensing aperture without clumping or clogging.
